Cruise Control Switch Circuit

  1. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Remove driver's side air bag. Test cruise control switch. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If cruise control switch is defective, replace cruise control switch. If cruise control switch is okay, go to next step.
  2. Check clockspring and cruise control switch wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If wiring and clockspring are okay, go to next step. If wiring or clockspring are defective, repair or replace as necessary.
  3. Test cruise control module inputs and outputs. See CRUISE CONTROL MODULE  under COMPONENT TESTS. If inputs and outputs are as specified, cruise control system is okay at this time. If inputs and outputs are not as specified, repair as necessary.
