Clock Spring Inspection (Standard Deployment Control System)
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
- Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .)
- Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .)
- Verify that the continuity is as indicated in the table.
- If not as indicated in the table, replace the clock spring. (See CLOCK SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .)
NOTE:- When the vehicle-side connector for the clock spring is disconnected, terminals 2A and 2B are shorted to prevent unexpected operation (deployment) of the air bag module.
