Cargo Compartment Light Bulb Removal/Installation

CAUTION:
  • If the cargo compartment light bulb is removed without disconnecting the negative battery cable, the circuit may be shorted and the related parts such as the rear body control module (RBCM) may be damaged. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before removing the cargo compartment light bulb.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
    CAUTION:
    • When inserting the remover tool in the gap between the cargo compartment light and the trunk side upper trim, the remover tool could interfere with the trunk side upper trim and scratch or damage it. When removing the cargo compartment light from the trunk side upper trim, apply protective tape to the trunk side upper trim.
  2. To prevent scratches or damage, apply protective tape to the position shown in the figure.

  3. Insert the remover tool into the gap between the cargo compartment light and the trunk side upper trim.
  4. Move the remover tool in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and pull out the tab of the cargo compartment light from the trunk side upper trim.

  5. Move the cargo compartment light in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure and pull out the cargo compartment light from the trunk side upper trim.
  6. Press the spring in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure to detach the spring from the cargo compartment light bulb.

    CAUTION:
    • If there is oil or dirt on the surface of the light bulb, excessive heat will build up and the life of the light bulb will be shortened. If the light bulb glass area is touched, wipe off any dirt using a soft cloth dampened with detergent diluted in water (approx. 5%).
  7. Remove the cargo compartment light bulb.
  8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
