Structure
An "electronic key" is integrated in the transmitter key This contains a FM radio transmitter, a computer chip as well as a battery (button cell).
In vehicles with KEYLESS-GO an RFID tag and motion detector are also integrated in the transmitter key (vehicle-dependent)
The following control elements are also integrated:
- "Lock" button
- "Unlock" button
- "Remote door unlocking for liftgate or separately opening rear window" button (model-dependent).
- "Unlock liftgate and sliding doors or unlock and open or close electric sliding door" button
- Key battery indicator lamp
Task
The following functions can be operated with the transmitter key:
- Lock/unlock central locking system
- Selective: only driver's door and fuel filler flap or socket flap
- Global: All doors liftgate or separately opening rear window and fuel filler flap or socket flap
- KEYLESS-GO start
- KEYLESS-GO (vehicles with KEYLESS-GO)
- Convenience feature
- Open or close EASY-PACK liftgate or unlock separately opening rear window (model dependent.
The unlock setting (selective/global) can be changed and the key functions deactivated on the transmitter key. This is described in the owner's manual for the vehicle.
The driver's door can be locked/unlocked with the integrated mechanical emergency key.
The transmitter key communicates with the vehicle via a wireless connection.
The transmitter key monitors the state of charge of its battery itself and indicates this via the red indicator lamp.
Vehicles with KEYLESS-GO
Radio signals are only transmitted if the integrated motion detector detects movement
