NOTE: Keyless entry beeper is also known as a keyless entry chime.
  1. Check the 15A Room Lamp fuse located in the interior fuse panel. Is the fuse okay? If yes, go to step  4 . If no, go to next step.
  2. Turn key to OFF position. Replace the fuse. Turn key to ON position. Operate the keyless entry system. Turn key to OFF position. Inspect the fuse. Does the fuse fail again? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn key to OFF position. Remove the fuse. Disconnect the keyless entry beeper connector. Disconnect the liftgate relay located behind the quarter trim panel. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Measure the resistance of the Brown wire between the right side of 15A Room Lamp fuse holder and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, service the Brown wire for short(s) to ground. If no, install the fuse. Reconnect the keyless entry beeper connector and go to next step.
  4. Activate the keyless entry beeper by pressing any keypad button. If keyless entry beeper does not illuminate, see TEST C: KEYPAD ILLUMINATION TEST  . Does the keyless entry beeper operate? If yes, go to step  8 . If no, go to next step.
  5. Turn key to OFF position. Disconnect the keyless entry beeper connector. Turn key to ON position. Measure the voltage on the Brown wire between the keyless entry beeper harness connector and ground. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, service Brown wire for open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. Turn key to OFF position. Disconnect the keyless entry module 20-pin input connector located behind the left inner kick panel. Disconnect the keyless entry beeper connector. Measure the resistance of the Green/Yellow wire between the keyless entry module input connector and ground. Measure the resistance of the Green/Yellow wire between the keyless entry module input connector and the keyless entry beeper harness connector. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the keyless entry module input connector and ground, and less than 5 ohms between the keyless entry module input connector and the keyless entry beeper harness connector? If yes, go to next step. If no, service Green/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  7. Turn key to OFF position. Reconnect the keyless entry beeper connector. Disconnect the keyless entry module 20-pin input connector. Connect a jumper wire to the Green/Yellow wire at the keyless entry module 20-pin input harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Ground the jumper wire momentarily. Does the keyless entry beeper operate? If yes, replace keyless entry module. If no, replace keyless entry beeper. See KEYPAD BEEPER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  8. Activate the illuminated entry system by opening and closing the left front door. Does the illuminated entry system operate properly? If yes, go to next step. If no, diagnose problem with illuminated entry system.
  9. Turn key to OFF position. Disconnect the timer module connector located behind the left outer kick panel. Disconnect the keyless entry module 20-pin input connector. Measure the resistance of the Light Green/Black wire between the keyless entry module input connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Measure the resistance of the Light Green/Black wire between the keyless entry module input connector and the timer module connector. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between the keyless entry module connector and ground, and less than 5 ohms between the keyless entry module connector and the timer module connector? If yes, replace the keyless entry module. See KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If no, service Light Green/Black wire.
