Code 14: Accelerator Or Throttle Position Sensor Failure

NOTE: Code 14 is output when initial difference between Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is 20 degrees or greater due to open circuit.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect APS harness connector. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between APS component terminals No. 3 and 4. Depress accelerator pedal slowly to floor while monitoring ohmmeter.
  2. If resistance increases from zero ohms to 3.5-6.5 ohms smoothly as pedal is depressed, replace TPS. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is not within specification, or resistance value changes erratically, replace APS and retest. See ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR (APS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
