No Response Test 5A - Scan Tool Blank Screen
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Dodge Stratus and 1995 Chrysler Cirrus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION in BODY CONTROL COMPUTER INTRODUCTION. Perform TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Disconnect scan tool from DLC and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Turn ignition off. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 16 (Pink wire) and ground. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Pink wire circuit between DLC and battery.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between DLC terminal No. 4 (Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 20 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 20 ohms, repair open Black wire circuit between DLC and ground.
- Substitute a different scan tool cable. If scan tool screen is no longer blank, replace scan tool cable. If scan tool screen is still blank, replace scan tool.
