Test SC-1B - Checking Cruise Control Relay Output

Perform TEST SC-1A
before proceeding with this test. After each repair, perform TEST VER-4A
.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect and inspect brakelight switch connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, turn ignition switch to ON position. Press cruise control switch to ON position.
- Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on brakelight switch connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4). If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition switch to OFF position.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Dark Blue/Red wire between brakelight switch connector terminal No. 4 and cruise control servo connector terminal No. 2. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Dark Blue/Red wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace brake switch.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove cruise control relay from junction block. See Figure . Junction block is located under left side of dash behind kick panel. Inspect relay connector. If connector is not okay, repair connector as necessary.
- If connector is okay, using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Yellow/Red wire between brakelight switch connector terminal No. 1 and cruise control relay connector terminal No. 20. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Yellow/Red wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace cruise control relay.
