Test G-3: Windshield Wiper Auto-Stop Function Malfunction

  1. Disconnect wiper motor 5-pin connector. Using jumper wires, connect battery voltage to wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 and ground wiper motor terminal No. 5. See Fig 1 . Wiper motor should run at low speed. Disconnect jumper wire from wiper motor connector terminal No. 1 and go to next step.
  2. Connect jumper wire between wiper motor connector terminals No. 2 and 3. Connect battery voltage to wiper motor connector terminal No. 1. Wiper motor should start turning at low speed and stop at predetermined park position. If wiper motor operates as specified, go to next step. If wiper motor does not operate as specified, replace wiper motor and retest wiper auto-stop function.
  3. Disconnect jumper wires. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and wiper motor connector terminal No. 1 (Blue wire). If battery voltage exists, go to step  6 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
  4. Check wiper motor connector for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair connector as necessary and retest wiper auto-stop function. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
  5. Check for open in Blue wire between wiper motor connector terminal No. 1 and ignition switch. Check for open in Blue wire between junction block and ignition switch. Repair appropriate wire and retest wiper auto-stop function.
  6. Check wiper motor connector and front-ECU connector A-09X for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair connector(s) as necessary and retest wiper auto-stop function. If problem does not exist, go to next step.
  7. Check for open or short in Yellow/Black wire between wiper motor connector terminal No. 2 and front-ECU connector A-09X terminal No. 7. See Figure . Check for open or short in Blue/Orange wire between wiper motor connector terminal No. 3 and front-ECU connector A-09X terminal No. 11. Check for open or short in Blue/Yellow wire between wiper motor connector terminal No. 4 and front-ECU connector A-09X terminal No. 12. If problem exists, repair appropriate wire and retest wiper auto-stop function. If problem does not exist, replace front-ECU and retest wiper auto-stop function.
