STEP 1. Check the throttle position sensor.

CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991502, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991502.
  1. Using scan tool MB991502.
  2. Connect scan tool MB991502 to the data link connector. See Figure.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
  4. Read the MFI-DTC.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.

Is the MFI-DTC P0120 output? 

  1. YES

    For 2.4L engine, see SELF DIAGNOSTICS - 2.4L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. For 3.0L engine, see SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - 3.0L article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  2. NO

    Go to Step 2 .
