WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti Q45. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the following test to check overall function of cooling fan. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
  1. Check the coolant level in the reservoir tank and radiator. If coolant level is okay, go to next step. If the coolant level in the reservoir tank and/or radiator is below the proper range, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
  2. If customer added coolant, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If customer did not add coolant, go to next step.
  3. Start engine. If cooling fan operates, go to next step. If cooling fan does not operate, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect radiator coolant temperature sensor harness connector. See Figure. Connect a 2.2 k/ohm resistor between radiator coolant temperature sensor harness connector terminals.
  5. Restart engine. Cooling fan should operate at a higher speed than in step  3. If operation is as specified, system is okay at this time. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
