DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)

NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of cooling fan. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
- Check the coolant level in the reservoir tank and radiator. If coolant level is okay, go to next step. If the coolant level in the reservoir tank and/or radiator is below the proper range, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- If customer added coolant, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If customer did not add coolant, go to next step.
- Start engine. If cooling fan operates, go to next step. If cooling fan does not operate, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect radiator coolant temperature sensor harness connector. See Figure. Connect a 2.2 k/ohm resistor between radiator coolant temperature sensor harness connector terminals.
- Restart engine. Cooling fan should operate at a higher speed than in step 3. If operation is as specified, system is okay at this time. If operation is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
