Passenger-side AIR Bag Module

- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove passenger-side air bag module from vehicle, and place module on a clean, dry, work bench with trim cover facing upward. See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Drill a 0.335" (8.5 mm) diameter hole in deployment bracket. See Fig 1 . Secure passenger-side air bag module to Air Bag Deployment Bracket (J41246) using two 8 mm x 25-30 mm bolts. Ensure that a gap does not exist between air bag module and deployment bracket. Use wood blocks if necessary to fill any gaps. Mount bracket securely in a vise. See Fig 2 .
- Position fully charged 12-volt battery at least 16 feet (5 m) from deployment area. Connect Air Bag Deployment Tool (J38381) to air bag module using Deployment Tool Adapter (J38381-35). See Fig 3 . Connect Red deployment tool clip to positive battery terminal and Black deployment tool clip to negative battery terminal.
- Ensure deployment tool power light glows Green. If deployment tool power light glows Red, reverse battery connections and recheck lamp. Ensure no one is within 16 feet (5 m) of air bag module. Press deployment tool button to deploy air bag. Allow air bag module to cool for 30 minutes before disposal. Put component in plastic bag, seal and dispose of it as you would any other part.
