NS-4 - Engine Timing Check

  1. Connect timing light to engine. Have an assistant crank engine while you watch timing marks. Timing should be between 0-16 degrees BTDC. If timing is okay, check valve timing and compression.
  2. If timing is not okay, set timing to 10 degrees BTDC while cranking. Engine should start. If engine starts, set timing to specification. If engine does not start, check valve timing and compression.
