General Description

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a permanent magnet generator in the transaxie which sends an AC signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which the PCM converts to miles per hour. There are several types of vehicle speed sensors. See Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
