Code P1571, Traction Control Desired Torque Out Of Range: Notes

Traction control system uses ABS system in conjunction with control module fuel and ignition controls to limit drive wheel slippage during acceleration. Control module portion of traction control system uses spark timing retardation, air/fuel mixture alteration or turning off up to 3 injectors to reduce engine torque. Control module determines amount of torque reduction by monitoring PWM signal from EBTCM. Control module also provides a delivered torque PWM signal to EBTCM to inform of engine torque.

When Code 1571 is set, control module will command EBTCM to set ABS/TCS Code 124, turn off traction control system and light TCS indicator or "SERVICE TRAC CTL" indicator. Code 1571 does not light "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" indicator.

1. Checks circuit for an open or short to ground.
2. Ensures EBTCM is proving a proper PWM signal to control module.
