July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Vehicle Interface Unit: Removal

  1. Remove right insulator panel.
  2. Open instrument panel compartment. Remove bolts from instrument panel compartment hinge. See Figure.
  3. Remove instrument panel compartment from instrument panel, and locate Vehicle Interface Unit (VIU).
  4. Remove screws securing VIU bracket to instrument panel metal brace. See Figure.
  5. Disconnect red 32-pin harness connectors and blue 32-pin harness connector. See Figure.
  6. Disconnect Global Position System (GPS) cables from VIU.
  7. Remove VIU from bracket by rotating module upwards to release hook tab. See Figure.
  8. Old VIU must be returned for core credit.
