Test G: Lock System Sticks In Start

  1. After reviewing ignition lock system description perform PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. After performing preliminary inspection, go to next step.
  2. Verify that lock system sticks in START position. If lock system does not operate normally, go to next step. If system operates normally, system is okay.
  3. Check lock module assembly for damage. If lock module is not damaged, go to next step. If lock module is damaged, go to step  6 .
  4. Check lock cylinder for damage. If lock cylinder is not damaged, go to next step. If lock cylinder is damaged, go to step  7 .
  5. Check ignition switch for damage. If ignition switch is not damaged, go to step  3 . If ignition switch is damaged, go to step  8 .
  6. Replace steering column. See STEERING COLUMN  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  9 .
  7. Replace lock cylinder. See IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  9 .
  8. Replace ignition switch. See IGNITION SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  9. Operate lock system to verify repairs. If lock system operates normally, testing is complete. If lock system does not operate normally, go to step  3 .
