To avoid misdiagnosis, ensure preliminary inspection and all checks have been performed. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION

NOTE:
The following test is specially designed for GM Cruise Control Tester (J42958). General Motors has noted that using this tester on vehicles with high resistance or an open in cruise control module ground circuit causes the LED(s) on the tester to light abnormally. If this situation is experienced, confirm ground circuit integrity before continuing test.
