July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Test A: Power Seat Inoperative

  1. If power seat/heated seats systems diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat/heated seats systems diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to POWER SEAT/HEATED SEATS SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Attempt to operate all power seat adjuster motors through full range of adjustment. If all power seat adjuster motors do not operate properly, go to next step. If all power seat adjuster motors operate properly, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  3. If all power seat adjuster motors do not operate, go to next step. If one or more power seat adjuster motors do not operate, go to step  6 .
  4. Disconnect inoperative power seat switch 8-pin harness connector. Using test light connected to ground, probe inoperative power seat switch harness connector terminal "A" (Orange wire). See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  5. Using test light connected to battery voltage, probe inoperative power seat switch harness connector terminal "H" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to step  11 . If test light does not illuminate, go to step  9 .
  6. Disconnect inoperative seat adjuster motor 6-pin harness connector. Seat adjuster motors are located under appropriate seat. Connect a test light between inoperative adjuster motor harness connector terminals. See Fig 2 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Press seat adjuster switch in both directions for inoperative motor. If test light illuminates in both directions, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate in both directions, go to step  10 .
  7. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in inoperative seat adjuster motor harness connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  14 . If no problem is found, go to step  13 .
  8. Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between center console fuse block harness connector C2 terminal B4 and inoperative power seat switch harness connector terminal "A". See Fig 1 and Fig 3 . After repairs are made, go to step  14 .
  9. Repair open in Black wire between ground and inoperative power seat switch harness connector terminal "H". See Fig 1 . Ground point is located on right "B" pillar, under seat belt anchor. After repairs are made, go to step  14 .
  10. Check for open or short to ground in inoperative seat adjuster motor control circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After repairs are made, go to step  14 .
  11. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in inoperative power seat switch harness connector. If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  14 .
  12. Replace inoperative power seat switch. See POWER SEAT SWITCHES  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  14 .
  13. Replace inoperative seat adjuster motor. See POWER SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
  14. Operate system to verify fault no longer exists. If fault still exists, go to step  2 .
