Differential Assembly: Disassembly

NOTE:
Do not disassemble the side cover or differential assembly. Oil seal damage or the entry of foreign material into the hydraulic system may effect system operation.
- Remove the lubricant drain plug and gasket from the differential. See Figure . Allow the lubricant to drain. Remove vent hose assembly and clamp. See VENT HOSE . Remove clutch pump check valve. Remove "O" rings from check valve. The O-ring seals may be reused if not cut or damaged.
- Remove torque tube bracket nut, bolt and spacers. Remove torque tube bracket. See Figure . Remove torque tube-to-differential bolts. Separate torque tube from differential. Remove bolts from differential.
- Remove pinion housing and shim. Remove oil seal and "O" ring from pinion housing. Remove left and right axle shaft oil seals. See REAR AXLE SHAFT SEALS .
NOTE:
Do not remove the dampeners from the torque tube. Removal and reinstallation may effect component noise and/or vibration levels.
