Removal & Installation: Compressor: Removal

- Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the RH engine splash shield. Release the drive belt tensioner. Remove the drive belt from the compressor pulley. See Fig 1 .
- Remove the air baffle bolts. See Figure . Remove the air baffle. Disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector. Reposition the engine harness away from the compressor. See Fig 2 .
- Remove the suction hose to compressor nut. See Fig 3 . Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor. Remove the discharge hose to compressor nut. Disconnect the discharge hose from the compressor.
- Remove compressor mounting bolts. See Fig 4
. Remove the compressor. If replacing the compressor, balance the compressor oil.NOTE: Replacement compressors are partially precharged with PAG oil. See SPECIFICATIONS .
NOTE:
Cap or tape the open A/C hoses immediately to prevent system contamination.
