Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 GMC Sierra, 2004 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2004 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the hood hinge to the hood. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement .
  2. With an assistant, install the hood (1) to the vehicle.
  3. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the pivot bolt (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the pivot bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  6. Lower the hood.
  7. Install the outboard section of the cowl vent grille panel.

  9. Raise the hood.
  10. Install the bolt (7) holding the hinge to the link assembly.

    Tighten:  Tighten the hinge to link assembly bolt (5) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the hood ground strap and nut. Clip the hangers and the lamp in place.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ground strap nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  12. Lower the hood.
