Removal & Installation: Starter: Installation

Install starter motor. Install shims (if equipped). Install mounting bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Connect starter solenoid wiring. Tighten battery cable to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Tighten ignition switch wires to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install starter motor brackets and shields. Connect negative battery cable.



Install starter motor to engine. Install starter motor bracket and bolt to engine. Tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Connect electrical connectors to starter solenoid. Tighten battery cable to solenoid to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Tighten ignition switch wires to solenoid to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install starter motor bolts to engine. Refer to Fig 1 . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install nut retaining starter to starter motor bracket. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install engine cover. Connect negative battery cable.

Install starter heat shield bolts and nuts, if necessary. Tighten nut and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Place starter motor into position. Install positive cable and cable nut to starter. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install engine harness (3) and harness nut (2) to starter. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Connect knock sensor (1). See Fig 1 . Raise starter motor into place. Install starter motor bolts. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Lower vehicle. Connect negative battery cable.
