Disabling System

WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Read and follow service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
NOTE: When SRS fuse is removed from junction block and ignition is on, AIR BAG warning light will be on. This does not indicate a system malfunction.
  1. Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition off and remove key.
  2. Remove center console accessory wiring junction block cover. Remove SRS fuse from junction block. Remove driver-side insulator panel. See Fig 1. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect driver-side air bag module Yellow connector, located at base of steering column.
  3. Remove passenger-side CPA clip and disconnect passenger-side air bag module Yellow connector, located below glove box. See Fig 2. Remove CPA clip from driver side impact air bag module connector, located under driver-side front seat. See Fig 3. Disconnect driver side impact air bag module connector.
  4. Remove CPA clip from passenger side impact air bag module connector, located under passenger-side front seat. Disconnect passenger side impact air bag module connector.
