Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Prizm. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  If you are removing the LH front lower control arm from a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission, you must remove the front suspension crossmember, the trans support, the two lower control arms, and the front stabilizer shaft (if equipped) together as a complete unit. Refer to Front Suspension Crossmember Replacement .

  1. Install the Engine Support Fixture. Refer to ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the suspension support brace (5) and the stabilizer shaft (10), if equipped. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement .

  6. Remove the following components from the lower control arm:
    • The 1 bolt
    • The 2 nuts

  7. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
    • The 4 bolts (1,8, 9, 11)
    • The 1 nut (12)
    • The front lower control arm bracket (10)
    • The front lower control arm
