Test 5, Stoplight Switch Circuit
- Verify normal operation of stoplight system. If stoplight system does not operate correctly, check STOP fuse. If STOP fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and recheck stoplights. If fuse fails again, locate and repair short in Green/Red wire between terminal No. 18 of CC ECU connector and stoplight switch connector.
- Disconnect stoplight switch 4-pin connector. Check for continuity between ground and Green/White wire of stoplight switch connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open in Green/White wire between ground and stoplight switch connector.
- Check stoplight switch. See STOPLIGHT SWITCH TEST under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace switch as necessary and recheck system operation. If switch is okay, reconnect stoplight switch connector. Disconnect CC ECU connector. See Figure. With brake pedal released, measure voltage between ground and CC ECU connector terminal No. 17 (Green/White wire). If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, locate and repair short in Green/White wire between CC ECU terminal No. 17 and STOP fuse.
- With brake pedal depressed, measure voltage between ground and CC ECU connector terminal No. 17 (Green/White wire). If battery voltage is present, replace faulty CC ECU and recheck system. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in Green/White wire between CC ECU terminal No. 17 and STOP fuse.
