Fuel Pressure Regulator: Removal

  1. Air intake chamber and intake air connector must be removed for access to fuel pressure regulator. See Figure. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  under FUEL SYSTEM. Drain cooling system. Remove air cleaner hose.
  2. Disconnect necessary electrical connectors, control cables, vacuum hoses and coolant hoses for removal of air intake chamber with throttle body. See Figure. On models with EGR, remove nuts, EGR pipe and gaskets. On all models, remove bolts and air intake chamber support brace from air intake chamber. Remove bolts/nuts, air intake chamber and gasket.
  3. Disconnect necessary electrical connectors, ground straps, vacuum hoses and wiring brackets for removal of intake air connector. See Figure. Remove bolts/nuts, intake air connector and gasket.
  4. Remove protector from engine wiring harness and lift engine wiring harness upward for access to fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect vacuum hose and fuel return hose from fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure regulator is located at the end of driver's side fuel rail. Remove bolts and fuel pressure regulator with "O" ring from fuel rail. Remove "O" ring from fuel pressure regulator.
