  2. Remove screws and pick-up coil from distributor housing. Remove screw and condenser from distributor housing. To check pick-up coil resistance, see PICK-UP COIL RESISTANCE under IGNITION CHECKS in BASIC TESTING - 2.7L article. Pick-up coil and distributor must be replaced as an assembly if defective.
  3. To check ignition coil resistance, see IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE under IGNITION CHECKS in BASIC TESTING - 2.7L article. Replace ignition coil if resistance is not within specification.
  4. To reassemble, install screw and condenser. Install pick-up coil on distributor housing so rotor tooth is aligned with pick-up coil. See Figure. Loosely install screws in pick-up coil. Pick-up coil air gap must be set.
  5. Insert a.008-.016" (.20-.40 mm) non-magnetic feeler gauge between pick-up coil and rotor tooth. Tighten screws for pick-up coil.
  6. To reassemble remaining components, reverse disassembly procedure. Apply seal packing at ignition coil-to-distributor housing surface before installing ignition coil on distributor housing.
  7. Ensure wires to ignition coil are properly engaged in grooves on side of ignition coil and wires do not contact the pick-up coil assembly. Use NEW gasket when installing ignition coil dust cover.
