Diagnosis & Repair
- Disconnect distributor connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between connector terminals No. 3 and 4. See Fig 1. Resistance should be 180-275 ohms (cold sensor) or 240-325 ohms (hot sensor).
- Replace distributor as necessary. If sensor is okay, inspect circuits between ECM and distributor for open or short. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS
article. Repair as necessary.
- If both circuits are okay, inspect sensor air gap. See N - REMOVAL/INSTALL/OVERHAUL article. If air gap is not within specification, replace distributor. If air gap is within specification, replace ECM and retest.
