WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Door unlock detection switch is incorporated in door lock assembly of each door. Remove door panel from door for access to suspect door lock assembly. See POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (FRONT DOORS) or POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (REAR DOORS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. To check door unlock detection switch on driver and front passenger doors, disconnect Black 6-pin electrical harness connector from suspect door lock assembly. See Fig 1. To check door unlock detection switch on rear doors, disconnect Black 4-pin electrical harness connector from suspect door lock assembly. See Fig 2. Note door lock assembly terminal identification and switch positions.
- Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between specified door lock assembly terminals with switch in specified position. See DOOR UNLOCK DETECTION SWITCH CONTINUITY table. Replace door unlock detection switch if continuity is not as specified. See POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (FRONT DOORS) or POWER DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (REAR DOORS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. It may be necessary to replace door lock assembly because door unlock detection switch may not be serviceable. Consult parts department for parts availability.
