Automatic Transaxle Assembly (U341F): Replacement

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  2. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  3. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE PROTECTOR 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and case protector.
  4. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSY LH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 

    SST 09520-01010, 09520-24010 (09520-32040)

  5. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT 
    1. Remove the bolt and control cable support.

  6. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET NO.1 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and control cable bracket.
  7. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the wire harness clamp bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 wire harnesses.

  8. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
    2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
    3. Disconnect the transmission revolution sensor connector.
  9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSY 
    1. Remove the ATF lever gauge.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts, oil cooler tube clamp and oil filler tube.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the oil filler tube.
  10. REMOVE OIL COOLER INLET TUBE NO.1 
    1. Using SST, disconnect the oil cooler inlet tube No. 1.

      SST 09023-12700

  11. REMOVE OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE NO.1 
    1. Using SST, disconnect the oil cooler outlet tube No. 1.

      SST 09023-12700

  12. REMOVE TRANSVERSE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket LH from the automatic transaxle.

  13. REMOVE TRANSVERSE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and engine mounting bracket FR from the automatic transaxle.

  14. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 
  15. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSY 
    1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access and remove the 6 bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

    2. Remove the 6 bolts.

    3. Remove the automatic transaxle from the engine.
  16. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSY 
  17. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSY (See  INSPECTION   ) 

    SST 09350-32014 (09351-32010, 09351-32020)

  18. INSTALL TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSY 
    1. Using vernier calipers, measure the dimension "A" between the transaxle fitting part and the converter fitting part of the drive plate.

    2. Set the key of the front oil pump drive gear at the top and put a mark on the housing.

    3. Put a mark on the torque converter so that its groove can be clearly indicated.

    4. Match the 2 marks on the case and the converter and fit the splined part of the input shaft to the spline part of the turbine runner.

    5. Rotating the converter, fit the spline part of the stator shaft with the spline part of the stator.
      NOTE: Rotate it about 180 degrees.

    6. Rotating the converter, match the 2 marks on the case and the converter again and fit the key of the oil pump drive gear into the key way of the converter.
      NOTE: When rotating the converter, do not push it by excessive force.

    7. Using vernier calipers and a straight edge, measure the dimension "B" shown in Fig 16 and check that "B" is greater than "A" measured in (a).

      Standard: A + 1 mm or more

    NOTE: Do not add the thickness of straight edge.
  19. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSY 
    1. Install the automatic transaxle to the engine with the 6 bolts.
      1. Torque: 
        1. Bolt A: 64 N.m (653 kgf.cm, 47 ft.lbf) 
        2. Bolt B: 46 N.m (469 kgf.cm, 34 ft.lbf) 
        3. Bolt C: 23 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf)

    2. Install the 6 torque converter mounting bolts.
      1. Torque: 28 N.m (285 kgf.cm, 20 ft.lbf) 
    NOTE: First install yellowish green colored bolt and then the 5 bolts.

  20. INSTALL FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 
  21. INSTALL TRANSVERSE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Install the engine mounting bracket FR to the automatic transaxle with the 2 bolts.
      1. Torque: 64 N.m (652 kgf.cm, 47 ft.lbf)

  22. INSTALL TRANSVERSE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Install the engine mounting bracket LH to the automatic transaxle with the 3 bolts.
      1. Torque: 52 N.m (530 kgf.cm, 38 ft.lbf)

  23. INSTALL TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSY 
    1. Temporarily install the oil cooler outlet tube No. 1.
    2. Temporarily install the oil cooler inlet tube No. 1.
    3. Coat a new O-ring with ATF, and install them to the oil filler tube.
    4. Install the oil filler tube to the automatic transaxle.
    5. Install the oil cooler tube clamp and 2 bolts.
      1. Torque: 
        1. Bolt A: 11.5 N.m (117 kgf.cm, 8 ft.lbf) 
        2. Bolt B: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

    6. Install the ATF lever gauge.
  24. INSTALL OIL COOLER INLET TUBE NO.1 
    1. Using SST, tighten the oil cooler inlet tube No. 1.

      SST 09023-12700

      1. Torque: 34.5 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf)

  25. INSTALL OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE NO.1 
    1. Using SST, tighten the oil cooler outlet tube No. 1.

      SST 09023-12700

      1. Torque: 34.5 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf) 
  26. CONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Connect the transmission wire connector.
    2. Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.
    3. Connect the transmission revolution sensor connector.
  27. INSTALL WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Install the wire harness clamp bracket and bolt.
      1. Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

  28. Install the 2 wire harness with the 2 bolts.
    1. Torque: 
      1. Bolt A: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) 
      2. Bolt B: 26 N.m (265 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)

  29. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET NO.1 
    1. Install the control cable bracket with the 2 bolts.
      1. Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) 
  30. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT 
    1. Install the control cable support with the bolt.
      1. Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf) 
    2. Connect the control cable to the control cable support.

  31. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSY LH (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  32. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CASE PROTECTOR 
    1. Install the case protector with the 2 bolts.
      1. Torque: 23 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf) 
  33. INSTALL TRANSFER ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  34. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE (See  REPLACEMENT  )
