Exhaust Manifold: Removal

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
- REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
- REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)
- Remove the 4 bolts and 2 compression springs.
- Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly from the 2 exhaust pipe supports, (for Torsion beam type suspension)
- Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly from the 3 exhaust pipe supports, (for Double wishbone type suspension)
- Remove the 2 gaskets.
- REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
- Remove the 4 bolts and 2 compression springs.
- Remove the center exhaust pipe assembly from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.
- Remove the 2 gaskets.
- REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector, (for 2WD)
- Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs and front exhaust pipe assembly.
- Remove the gasket from the exhaust manifold.
- REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
- Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.
- REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY
- Remove the bolt, nut and manifold stay.
- REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY
- Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 manifold stay.
- REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 5 nuts and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.
- Remove the gasket.
- REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR
- Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator.
- REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR
- Remove the 4 bolts and No. 1 manifold converter insulator.
