Quarter Window Glass: Installation

1. Clean the outer edges of a new quarter window assembly with a non-residue solvent.

1. Using a brush or a sponge, apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

   NOTE:

   • Do not coat the adhesive with primer M.
   • Do not apply too much primer.
   • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
   • Throw away any leftover Primer.
2. Using a brush or a sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the new quarter window glass.

   Standard Measurement 

   MEASUREMENT SPECIFICATION
   
   

   Area	Specified Condition
   a	7.0 mm(0.276 in.)
   b	8.0 mm (0.315 in.)

   HINT:

   If the primer is applied to an area that is not specified, wipe off the primer with a non-residue solvent before it dries.

   NOTE:

   • To prevent the glass from breaking at low temperatures, ensure that no primer adheres to the contact surface between the moulding and glass during application.
   • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
   • Throw away any leftover Primer.
   • Do not apply too much primer.
3. Apply adhesive to the quarter window assembly.

   Adhesive: Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent 

   1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

      a	12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
      b	8.0 mm (0.315 in.)
      c	13.4 mm (0.528 in.)
      d	14.0 mm (0.551 in.)

   2. Load the sealer gun with cartridge.
   3. Apply adhesive to the quarter window glass as shown in the illustration.
4. Install the quarter window glass to the vehicle body.
   1. Engage the 3 clips to install the quarter window glass.

   2. Hold the quarter window assembly in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.
      NOTE:

      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Check that the clips are attached to the body correctly.
      • Check the clearance between the body and glass.
   3. Lightly press the outer surface of the glass to ensure a close fit that the glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.
   4. Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

      HINT:

      Apply adhesive onto the glass rim.

1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.
2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.
