Checking components and wiring

Check the control module connector and kickdown switch (KD) connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact resistance and oxidation .

Check the resistance of the kickdown switch (KD) when it is pressed down and when it is in the released position. The resistance should be approximately 0 ohm with the kickdown switch (KD) pressed down as far as it will go. The resistance should be infinite when it is released.

Check the cable between kickdown switch (KD) terminal 2 and control module terminal 18 for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Check the cable between kickdown switch (KD) terminal 1 and the ground terminal for an open-circuit according to Open-circuit, permanent faults .

Remedy as necessary
