Test 1A - Identifying Vehicle Equipment & System Problems

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . When directed to go to next step, disregard step if vehicle is not equipped with module being tested.
  1. Connect DRB to Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC). DLC is located under dash to left of steering column. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using DRB, select BODY SYSTEM.
  2. If DRB does not display BUS OPERATIONAL, see VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS. If DRB displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step.
  3. Using DRB, select body controller. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 69A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  4. Using DRB, select electronic cluster, if equipped. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 70A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  5. Using DRB, select Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), if equipped. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 71A. If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  6. Using DRB, select traveler, if equipped. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 72A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  7. Using DRB, select compass temperature, if equipped. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 73A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  8. Using DRB, select engine node, if equipped. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 74A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
  9. Using DRB, select PCM monitor. If DRB displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 75A  . If DRB does not display NO RESPONSE, go to next step.
    NOTE: Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  10. Using DRB, read trouble codes. If DRB does not display trouble codes, see DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY  table for specific diagnosis. If DRB displays trouble codes, go to next step.
  11. If DRB displays NO VOLTAGE AT PIN 16 OF BODY COMPUTER, go to TEST 69A. If DRB does not display NO VOLTAGE AT PIN 16 OF BODY COMPUTER, go to next step.
  12. If DRB displays EEPROM CHECKSUM FAILURE, replace Body Control Module (BCM). If DRB does not display EEPROM CHECKSUM FAILURE, go to next step.
  13. If DRB displays ODOMETER TEST FAILURE, replace BCM. If DRB does not display ODOMETER TEST FAILURE, go to next step.
  14. If DRB displays WRONG BODY COMPUTER, install correct BCM. If DRB does not display WRONG BODY COMPUTER, proceed to DIAGNOSTIC TEST DIRECTORY for specific diagnosis.
