Information Center Test 4A - Engine Temperature Warning Light Driver Circuit

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Start engine. If engine temperature light is illuminated, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 4B  . If engine temperature light is not illuminated, go to next step.
  2. Turn engine off. Using scan tool, actuate engine temperature light. If engine temperature light illuminates, warning light system is currently functioning correctly. If engine temperature light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect information center connector. Using external voltmeter, measure voltage at terminal No. 10 (Brown/Pink wire). If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open Brown/Pink wire between junction block and information center. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Remove and inspect engine temperature warning light bulb. Replace as needed. Reinstall bulb and reconnect information center connector. Backprobe information center connector with jumper wire. Connect jumper between ground and terminal No. 6 (Violet wire). If engine temperature warning light does not illuminate, replace information center. If engine temperature warning light illuminates, go to next step.
  5. Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . Remove cover from connector "A". Connect jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 6 (Violet wire). If engine temperature warning light does not illuminate, repair open Violet wire. If engine temperature warning light illuminates, replace BCM.
