Information Center Test 4B - Engine Temperature Warning Light Driver Circuit

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 4A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform, after each repair, VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, select BODY SYSTEMS. Read CHIME MONITOR. If engine temperature light is illuminated, see INSTRUMENT PANEL - ANALOG article. If engine temperature light is not illuminated, go to next step.
  2. Turn engine off. Turn ignition to ON position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector "A". BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure . If engine temperature light is not illuminated, replace BCM. If engine temperature light is illuminated, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect information center connector. Remove ignition key. Turn off all lights and accessories. Close all doors. Go to next step.
  4. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance on information center connector, terminal No. 6 (Violet wire). If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace information center. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair Violet wire for short to ground.
