Chime Sounds With Driver Door Open & Key Removed
Possible Causes:
- Operation of exterior or interior lighting system.
- Key-In Ignition Switch shorted.
- Key-In Ignition Switch Sense circuit short to ground.
- CTM - Key-In Ignition Switch Sense circuit shorted.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off before disconnecting or connecting any control module connector. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module.
NOTE:
Ensure vehicle being tested has a fully charged battery. If it does not, false symptoms may occur.
NOTE:
For component location, see appropriate illustration under COMPONENT LOCATIONS

Testing:
- Verify proper operation of the exterior or interior lights. Do the lights operate properly? If yes, go to next step. If no, perform appropriate lighting system test under EXTERIOR LIGHTING or INTERIOR LIGHTING. See SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION .
- Disconnect Ignition Switch harness connector. Does chime turn off? If yes, replace Ignition Switch. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect CTM C1 harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and CTM C1 harness connector terminal No. 19. Is resistance less than 100 ohms? If yes, repair Key-In Ignition Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
- If there are no possible causes remaining, replace CTM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
