Testing
- Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect Instrument Panel Junction Block Fuse No. 9 (5-amp). Is the fuse open? If yes, repair Fused Panel Dimmer Switch Signal circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
- Reinstall fuse. Turn Park Lamps on. Adjust Panel Lamp Dimmer to full bright position. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe Instrument Panel Junction Block C4 harness connector terminal No. 14. Does the test light illuminate brightly? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in the Panel Dimmer Switch Output circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn Park Lamps off. Disconnect Overhead Console harness connector. Turn Park Lamps on. Adjust Panel Lamp Dimmer to full bright position. Using 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe Overhead Console harness connector terminal No. 9. Does test light illuminate brightly? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair open in Fused Panel Lamps Dimmer Switch Signal circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using 12-volt test light connected to 12 volts, probe Overhead Console harness connector terminal No. 12. Does test light illuminate brightly? If yes, replace Universal Transmitter. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, repair open in Universal Transmitter Ground circuit. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
