Rear Wiper Park Switch Sense Circuit Low
Possible Causes:
- Intermittent wiring and connections.
- Rear Wiper Relay.
- Rear Wiper Park Switch.
- Rear Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit short to ground.
- CTM.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off before disconnecting or connecting any control module connector. Failure to do so could result in damage to control module.
NOTE:
Ensure vehicle being tested has a fully charged battery. If it does not, false DTCs or error messages may occur.
NOTE:
For component location, see appropriate illustration under COMPONENT LOCATIONS
. For terminal identification, see appropriate illustration under CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For circuit and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. For component removal and installation procedures, see appropriate component under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
.
Testing:
- Turn ignition off. Connect DRBIII(R) to DLC. Turn ignition on. Using the DRBIII(R), erase DTCs. Cycle the ignition off, then on, leaving ignition on for at least 15 seconds. Operate rear wiper system in all modes. Using the DRBIII(R), read DTCs. Does this DTC reset? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 6 .
- Using the DRBIII(R), erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Substitute a known-good relay in place of Rear Wiper Relay in the PDC. Turn ignition on. Operate rear wiper system in all modes. Using the DRBIII(R), read DTCs. Does this DTC reset? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace Rear Wiper Relay. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition on. Using the DRBIII(R), erase DTCs. Turn ignition on. Place Rear Wipers in intermittent position. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Rear Wiper Motor harness connector. Measure resistance between Rear Wiper Motor terminals No. 1 and 3 (component side). Is resistance more than 5 ohms? If yes, replace Rear Wiper Motor. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CTM harness connectors. Measure resistance between ground and Rear Wiper Motor harness connector terminal No. 3. Is resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, repair Rear Wiper Park Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS. If no, go to next step.
- If there are no possible causes remaining, replace CTM. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- The conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Visually inspect related wiring harnesses for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires. Visually inspect related harness connectors for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Wiggle related wiring harnesses while checking for shorts or open circuits. Repair as necessary. After repair, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
