System Testing

NOTE: Many test steps refer to various connectors. These connectors are identified in illustration. See CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION.

Before beginning any testing, retrieve any existing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from driver door module, driver seat module and lighting control module. See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. Make any repairs that may be indicated. See DTC TEST INDEX  . If symptoms remain, or if no DTCs exist, See SYMPTOM CHART  . Go to appropriate symptom related PINPOINT TEST  . If any DTC begins with letter "U", see MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.

A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required to test the power seat system. Connect NGS tester to data link connector, located beneath instrument panel. Preform data link diagnostics test. If NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for driver seat module, go to PINPOINT TEST C. If NGS responds with NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for driver door module, go to PINPOINT TEST D. If NGS responds NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for lighting control module, go to PINPOINT TEST E. If data link diagnostics test is passed for driver door module, driver seat module or lighting control module, retrieve continuous DTCs and preform appropriate DTC TEST. If self-test is passed and no DTCs are retrieved, go to SYMPTOM CHART.

(1) Retrieve driver seat module DTCs. Service DTCs. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to PINPOINT TEST E  .
(2) Preform driver seat module, driver door module and lighting control module self-test. Service DTCs.
(3) Retrieve driver seat module DTCs. Service DTCs.
