Inspection Procedure
- CHECK ECM (CCS VOLTAGE)
- Remove the ECM with the connector still connected.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage between terminal CCS of the E9 ECM connector and body ground, when each of the -/SET, +RES and CANCEL switches are turned ON.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONSSwitch Position Specified Condition Neutral 10 to 14 V +/RES 2.3 to 4 V -/SET 4.5 to 7.1 V CANCEL 6.6 to 10.1 V
OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
NG: Go to next step.
- INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH
- Remove the steering wheel center pad (see REMOVAL ).
- Disconnect the control switch connector.
- Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 5 of the cruise control switch connector when the control switch is operated.
Standard resistance
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONSSwitch Position Specified Condition Neutral ∞ (No continuity) +/RES 216 to 264 Ω -/SET 567 to 693 Ω CANCEL 1,386 to 1,694 Ω - Check continuity between terminals 4 and 5 of the control switch connector when the main switch is held on and off.
OK
CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONSTester Condition Switch Position Specified Condition 4 - 5 OFF No continuity 4 - 5 ON Continuity
NG: REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH
OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH - ECM AND BODY GROUND)
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK CRUISE MAIN INDICATOR LIGHT
- Check CRUISE main indicator light (see TERMINALS OF ECM ).
NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK: REPLACE ECM
