Shift Linkage

Cordia, Precis & Tredia

1) Shift cable is adjusted at transaxle end of cable. Place

gearshift lever in "N". Ensure transaxle shift lever and neutral

safety switch are in neutral position.

2) Turn adjuster at cable end so it fits into manual lever

on transaxle. Turn adjusting nut so there is no slack in the cable.

If cable was replaced, ensure toothed washer is positioned correctly.

See Fig 1.

Galant & Mirage

1) Shift cable is adjusted at transaxle end of cable. Place

shift lever in "N". Disconnect transaxle end of cable from transaxle.

Ensure transaxle shift lever is in Neutral position.

2) Loosen adjuster lock nuts at transaxle end of cable.

Ensure cable end fits into eye of transaxle shift lever. Tighten lock

nuts.

Starion

Place shift lever in "N" position. Transmission selector lever should also be in Neutral. If not, loosen lock nuts on end of cross shaft below shift lever assembly. Adjust selector rod and tighten lock nuts. See Fig 2.

Montero

Loosen swivel nut on transmission control rod. Ensure shift lever and transmission are in Neutral. Tighten swivel nut. See Fig 3.

Pickup

Disconnect shift cable at transmission. Ensure shift lever and transmission are both in Neutral. Loosen lock nuts and adjust transmission end of shift cable to fit in transmission shift lever.

Van

1) Remove floor console. Place shift lever in "N". Loosen

adjusting bolt. See Fig 4.

2) Shift transmission into Neutral. Tighten adjusting bolt.
