Simplified Fault Diagnostic Mode

This diagnostic has 3 modes and can be switched by operating the ignition or other switches (i.e. headlight, power door lock, wiper, etc.). To reconfirm a code, it is necessary to switch to another mode and start again. To return to normal mode, turn ignition off and disconnect scan tool.

The following are the 3 simplified fault diagnostic modes:

Ignition in ACC or OFF position. This mode will confirm/check switch input signal to each ECU in the multiplex control system. Switch input signal is normal when a particular switch is operated in this mode and high beam indicator light flashes and buzzer sounds. See Fig 1 .

Ignition in ON position. This mode displays codes to confirm whether vehicle is equipped with correct ECU. Codes are displayed/flashed on high beam indicator light. See SPECIFICATION CODE IDENTIFICATION table.
