Test 1, Power Source Circuit
- Remove and inspect ENGINE fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse. If fuse blows again, disconnect Cruise Control Electronic Control Unit (CC ECU) connector. CC ECU is located behind left side kick panel. See Figure. Install NEW fuse. Turn ignition on and check fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse blows, check for short in wiring harness between ENGINE fuse and cruise control main relay terminal No. 2 (Blue/Red wire). See Figure. If circuit between ENGINE fuse and cruise control main relay is okay, test cruise control main relay. See CRUISE CONTROL MAIN RELAY TEST under COMPONENT TESTING.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect cruise control main relay connector. Check for continuity between ground and cruise control main relay connector terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire). If continuity does not exist, repair faulty ground or open in White/Black wire. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and cruise control main relay power terminal No. 2 (Blue/Red wire). If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open in Blue/Red wire between ENGINE fuse and main relay connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Test cruise control main relay. See CRUISE CONTROL MAIN RELAY TEST under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace cruise control main relay as necessary and recheck system operation. If cruise control main relay is okay, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between ground and cruise control main relay connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow wire). If continuity exists, locate and repair short in Yellow wire between cruise control main relay connector and CC ECU connector terminal No. 12. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between ground and cruise control main relay connector terminal No. 1 (Blue wire). If continuity exists, locate and repair short in Blue wire between cruise control main relay connector and CC ECU connector terminal No. 10. If continuity does not exists, go to next step.
- Disconnect CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch connector. See Fig 1. Check for continuity between ground and wiring harness side of main relay connector terminal No. 4 (Green/Black wire). If continuity exists, locate and repair short in Green/Black wire between cruise control main relay connector and wiring harness side of 6-pin slip ring connector. See Fig 2. If continuity does not exist, connect cruise control main relay connector and go to next step.

- Disconnect slip ring 5-pin and 6-pin connectors, located under steering wheel. See Fig 2. Turn ignition on. Measure battery voltage between ground and wiring harness side of 6-pin connector terminal No. 4 (Green/Black wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open Green/Black wire between cruise control main relay connector and slip ring 6-pin connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and wiring harness side of slip ring 6-pin connector terminal No. 5 (White/Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open White/Black wire between slip ring 6-pin connector terminal No. 5 and ground.
- Check for continuity between slip ring connector terminals. See TESTING SLIP RING table. See Fig 2. If continuity exists between terminals, go to next step. If continuity does not exist between terminals, replace slip ring and recheck system operation.

- Disconnect CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch connector. See Figure and Figure
. Check for continuity between CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch 2-pin "B" connector terminal No. 1 and CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch 5-pin connector "A" terminal No. 3. See Fig 1. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open between CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch connectors.
- Check CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch. See CRUISE ON-OFF (MAIN) SWITCH TEST under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace switch as necessary and recheck system operation. If switch is okay, reconnect slip ring connectors. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and CRUISE ON-OFF (main) switch 2-pin connector "B" terminal No. 1. If battery voltage is present, connect main switch connector and go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair short between connector "B" terminal No. 1 and 5-pin connector "A" terminal No. 3.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CC ECU wire harness connector. Check for continuity between CC ECU ground terminal No. 15 (White/Black wire) and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair faulty ground or open between terminal No. 15 and ground.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and CC ECU terminal No. 12 (Yellow wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, locate and repair open between CC ECU terminal No. 12 and main relay terminal No. 6.
- Disconnect main relay 6-pin connector. See Figure. Check for continuity between CC ECU connector terminal No. 10 (Blue wire) and main relay connector terminal No. 1 (Blue wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, locate and repair open between CC ECU connector terminal No. 10 and main relay connector terminal No. 1.
- Remove and inspect GAUGE fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and recheck system operation. If fuse fails again, locate and repair short between GAUGE fuse and CC ECU connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Yellow) wire.
- Using a jumper wire, connect CC ECU connector terminal No. 4 (Black/Yellow wire) to ground. If CRUISE indicator light does not come on, check bulb continuity or repair open in harness circuit between GAUGE fuse and CC ECU connector terminal No. 4. If CRUISE indicator light comes on, replace CC ECU and recheck system operation.
