TP Sensor Idle Position Adjustment

  1. Start engine and warm to normal operating temperature. Turn ignition off. On Q45, disconnect vacuum hose from throttle opener. Install a hand vacuum pump to throttle opener. Apply vacuum until throttle drum does not contact throttle opener. See Fig 1.
  2. On all models, disconnect closed throttle position switch harness connector. Check continuity between appropriate terminals with specified feeler gauge inserted between throttle adjusting screw and throttle drum. See FEELER GAUGE THICKNESS  table. See Fig 2, Fig 3 or Fig 4 .
  3. Ensure continuity is as specified with appropriate feeler gauge installed. If continuity is not as specified, open and close throttle 2-3 times and recheck continuity. If continuity is still not as specified, loosen TP sensor mounting screws, and rotate TP sensor body until continuity is as specified when each feeler gauge is inserted.
