INSPECTION PROCEDURE 4: The TCL Work Indicator Light Remains Illuminated After the Engine is Started.: Diagnosis

Required Special Tool: 

  1. STEP 1. Using scan tool, diagnose the CAN bus line. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool.

    Use scan tool to diagnose the CAN bus lines.

    1. Connect scan tool to the data link connector.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    4. Diagnose the CAN bus line (Refer to HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE CAN BUS LINE ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
    6. Disconnect scan tool.

      Q: Is the check result satisfactory? 

      1. YES:  Go to Step 2
      2. NO:  Repair the CAN bus lines (Refer to CAN BUS DIAGNOSTICS TABLE ).

        Then go to Step  4.

  2. STEP 2. Using scan tool, read the diagnostic trouble code. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool.
    1. Connect scan tool to the data link connector.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    4. Use scan tool to read the TCL diagnostic trouble codes (Refer to HOW TO READ AND ERASE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
    6. Disconnect scan tool.

      Q: Is any DTC set? 

      1. YES:  Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART . Then go to Step  4.
      2. NO:  Go to Step 3.
  3. STEP 3. Using scan tool, read the diagnostic trouble code. 
    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool.
    1. Connect scan tool to the data link connector.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
    4. Check for Combination meter system diagnostic trouble code (Refer to HOW TO READ AND ERASE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
    6. Disconnect scan tool.

      Q: Is DTC U1102 set? 

      1. YES:  Replace the hydraulic unit (integrated with ABS/TCL-ECU) (Refer to HYDRAULIC UNIT ). Then go to Step  4.
      2. NO:  Replace the combination meter assembly (Refer to COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY AND VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR ). Then go to Step  4.
  4. STEP 4. Retest the system 

    Q: Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Do the "TCL OFF" indicator light and the TCL work indicator light illuminate for three seconds, and then go out after the engine starts? 

    1. YES:  The procedure is complete.
    2. NO:  Return to Step  1.
